About the Art Therapist
Kate Marder, LPC, ATR-BC, CPRP
Art Therapist
Kate Marder is a Board Certified Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT and obtained her Masters in Creative Art Therapy Counseling from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. She has vast experience in residential, outpatient, and inpatient psychiatric settings, including directorial and senior positions. In addition to providing individual and group art therapy to Art Therapy Houston clients, Kate also facilitates art therapy groups at a leading hospital in the Texas Medical Center. She enjoys presenting her work at conferences and is the co-author of Mentalizing in Group Art Therapy: Interventions for Emerging Adults. Kate's art therapy approach is informed by training in Mentalizing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and as a yoga teacher (200 hour certification).
